After group discussion, we went around in each table and shared out the  good questions that we have, and the qualities that we think are the qualities of good questions.

3) Membership Grid: The question for today is "if you have a yacht, what would you name it?"/

4) Literature Discussion: Discussing the literature circle book.

That is it for today. Bye!

Hi West House,

Below is the agenda for 1/16/2013:

1) SSR: just regular 20 minutes of reading.

2) EPT Info: Mr.s Ortega gave us some valuable information on the EPT and the college placement exams in general. It is assignment 54 in your notebook.

3) EPT Rubric: Mrs. Ortega passed out a scoring guide/rubric for the EPT. This is just to give you an idea on how your essay is being graded on the scale of 1- 6 (bad - good).

4) Group Scoring Practice: We read six different pieces of EPT on the same prompt that we did for our timed writing. Everyone was supposed to grade the paper using the EPT rubric with his or her table group.

5) Class Discussion: The final moment of revealing the scores has finally came. Mrs. Ortega told us the the grade for each writing and we had a class discussion over it.

Thats it for today, peace out west house.

West House! Today in Ortega's we were introduced to the lovely Erica. She will be a tutor in, both, Ortega's and Edward's class. She would be able to help anyone about any question they have regarding an essay or anything.

We also did our very first LC for the book. Remember to keep up with the groups reading and try not to read ahead.

Well that's it for me. :) Happy Friday.

Hello West House Members,
my name is Nicole and I'll be your scribe for the week. Yay!

Okay, let's get started. So today, Monday, December 10, 2012, we first started off with SSR for 20 minutes.
Shortly after SSR, Ortega went around to each table and checked us off to see if we had both our essay and our peer review, which should be placed in our notebook. If you didn't have it today, make sure that it's printed and in your notebook by next rotation.
Mrs. Ortega then proceeded by making an appointments for each group to meet her at the library on Wednesday, December 12th, in order to go over our pro speeches. Each person within your Model Assembly group will bring their speech to recite to Ortega during their appointment. Each group will have 15 minutes, so if you're the first group at 8:00, make sure you're there on time!
On Wednesday, everybody meets at the Library at 8:00 A.M.; If you're late, make sure you go to room 2907, on the second floor.
Our last thing for the day was having a quick mini lesson on Counter Arguments.
All of the groups were given a topic, and within your groups we would have about fifteen minutes to come up with a counter argument to whatever the concept was classified as. We then talked about it as a class, and Ortega picked people to share the answers aloud.

Recap:
-SSR
-Peer review/essay check
-Library Appointments
-Counter Argument Lesson.

That was all the time we had for today.
Oh, and don't forget that National Guard will be coming to iPoly, Tuesday at lunch.
Okay, that is all. Goodnight West House! (:
-Nicole.
